MAJOR: Hawaii has the strictest animal-import quarantine rules in the US — up to 120 days. Cats from outside Hawaii must meet the 5-Day-Or-Less or Direct Airport Release program requirements (rabies titer testing, microchip, documentation, advance paperwork) or face quarantine. Also, HNL terminal rules prohibit ANY animal in the terminal building except service animals or animals properly confined for shipment by an air carrier — meaning even a cabin-carrier cat technically needs to be ticketed and confined.
